History

The CASC first met on January 18th 2003 when the officers were first elected. At that time there were no member groups. Four home groups of the Capital Area were present to establish a name for the new area. The new area was originally named The New Area. Motions were made and carried for the purpose of sending letters to the Capital Area and all home groups within and outside the new area boundaries informing them of The New Area.

January 2003 Genesis Reflections Group (Smithfield), One Day at a Time Group (Angier), New Way of Life II (Fuquay Varina)(Left Area) and New Beginnings (Dunn) joined The New Area.

February 2003 The New Area renamed to The Crossroads Area of Narcotics Anonymous.

April 2003 Benson Insight group joined the area. The New Hope Alliance Church was approved as the facility for the area’s monthly meetings.

June 2003 Steps into Recovery (McGee’s Crossroads) joined the area. Moved to Lillington in 2012.

December 2003 New Attitudes (Garner) joined the area. Dissolved

January 2004 Pathways to Freedom Group (Johnston County Correction Facility) joined the area.

March 2004 First Annual Area Celebration: Learning Day and Speaker meeting

February 2008 Area committed to celebrating Anniversary consisting of at least one workshop, one speaker, and a dinner to adhere to our 5th Tradition. Celebration will be funded entirely by the Area and held as close to Area Anniversary, January 18th.

April 2012 1st Annual Crossroads Area Campout @ Grandfather Mountain Campground.

April 28, 2012 Area is to be combined with the New Years Eve Celebration and Area is to donate an agreed amount toward the Area Celebrations’ portion.

November 17, 2012 Women Do Recover joins Crossroads Area.

March 16, 2013 The Journey Begins (Wilson’s Mills) joins Crossroads Area. Group had started on March 4th, 2013.

April 25-29, 2013 2nd Annual Crossroads Area Campout @ Grandfather Mountain Campground.

December 31, 2013 11th anniversary celebrated with New Year’s Eve celebration.

June 6-8, 2014 3rd Annual Crossroads Area Campout @ Grandfather Mountain Campground.

December 20, 2014 Genesis Reflections Group folded, due to lack of ability to pay rent.

December 31, 2014 12TH anniversary celebrated with New Year’s Eve celebration.

June 5-7, 2015 4th Annual Crossroads Area Campout @ Grandfather Mountain Campground.

July 18, 2015 Our Gratitude Speaks Group of Willow Spring joins Crossroads Area.

November 21, 2015 Decision is made to no longer combine the New Years Eve Celebration and the Area Celebration events.

January 9, 2016 13th anniversary CAR workshop and celebration held in Lillington.

February 21, 2016 6 groups start playing Capture The Flag game, rules are posted on the website. That night, Crossroads To Recovery at Surrender group captures the first flag.

April 16, 2016 Beacon Of Hope Group joins the area, requirements for groups joining the area are added into policy, Capture the Flag rules are officially part of area.

June 3-5, 2016 5th Annual Crossroads Area Campout is held at Grandfather Mountain Campground in Banner Elk.
